Iso Grifo
A griffin: eagle in front, lion behind. Both halves eat snakes.
Giugiaro drew it, Bizzarrini engineered it, Chevrolet supplied the V8, and the name is a mythological composite of the two animals most reliably depicted killing serpents in European art.

Sigil generated from the entry's own name. Every coil, hue and scale in this plate is a function of the string “iso-grifo”, and of nothing else.
The griffin is eagle at the front and lion at the rear. Both components are classical snake-killers: the eagle-versus-serpent motif runs from Mesopotamian cylinder seals through Greek augury to the flag of Mexico, and the lion has been fighting serpents in mosaic form since antiquity.
So the Iso Grifo is, technically, twice an adversary — and the Ophidiary briefly considered promoting it to Book V. It declined on the grounds that the griffin is a composite that has never actually been observed doing anything, whereas the mongoose can be filmed.
The car is one of the great Italian-American hybrids: a Giugiaro body over a Bizzarrini-developed chassis with a Chevrolet small-block, later a big-block, built in Bresso by a company that had previously made refrigerators and the Isetta bubble car. That trajectory — fridges, to bubble cars, to a 7-litre grand tourer — is unmatched.
